'
Recently, I had the pleasure of serving on the management team of the newly formed marketing and business consulting company in Wisconsin called Maverick Manufacturing LLC. We were hired to assist a small startup manufacturing company with their design and prototyping capabilities for a new product that they hoped to introduce into the market. While there were certainly some challenges that we took on in this effort, we did a great job assisting this startup company. One of the things that we found that really set us apart from the other companies we served was our company's reliance on accurate, unbiased online manufacturers quote sources. We strive to keep the process simple enough for anyone to do, yet exhaustive enough to weed out the low quality sources that would not pass muster under our guidelines.

When we first began evaluating manufacturers, we would often receive quotes from an online source that was completely un-reputable. A company would post an online quote and include any and all miscellaneous comments about the manufacturing and assembly line that simply had no relation to the quote that was given to us. In many cases, we would contact the company and they would ask if we would meet with them to discuss our findings. Our meetings with them often times turned into lengthy discussions on why they posted the information in the first place and what they planned to do to remedy the situation.

This went on for months until we came across an article in an online article discussing a security leak in Nintendo Wii products. The article discussed how hackers were able to circumvent Nintendo's security measures and gain unauthorized access to company proprietary computer code. This is a legitimate concern that everyone should be aware of. It's also a legitimate concern for consumers to know how their shopping sites are protected from these leaks. We discussed one of the options that could be considered to stop the leaks - changing our online printer supply list.

What we did not discuss however, is whether or not we should actually be changing printers. That issue deserves a much in-depth discussion. When we changed the manufacturer of one of our products we initially received a letter from the company that provided several explanations as to why we should change and why we shouldn't. However, we were not put off by these explanations and ultimately chose to go with the company that we felt provided us with the most security and quality experience - Maverick Manufacturing LLC.

At the time we made this decision, we had already purchased and read several statements from the company's CEO and COO. After reading these statements we felt as though it was quite obvious that we should stick with the company that provided the security and quality products - but were we wrong? While we haven't found any evidence that security leaks have actually affected production or services, it certainly doesn't make sense to us that a company would supply a product to their retailers and distributors to make it possible for them to sell un-assembled products without first assuring that the products are indeed safe and secure.

We have also heard reports of rogue products being supplied to retailers and distributors by this same company. In one instance we found that this company provided a flashlight to a distributor that unfortunately had the flashlight stuck on the roof of his truck, with the faulty wiring coming from the Maverick Manufacturing LLC Wisconsin PCB. Once the flashlight fell of the truck, it resulted in an unfortunate accident that claimed the life of the distributor's dog. Obviously this is a tragedy that could have been prevented had the manufacturer provided adequate security to the distributor to make sure the flashlight was safely attached to the truck. We hope that this story helps you understand the importance of security when purchasing products from a manufacturer.
'
